Send agreements for e-signature

Build reusable templates, send documents for signature, and collect a payment or set up recurring billing when they’re signed.

Before you start

  • Agreements live in Sales, under Agreements.
  • A template that collects a payment needs the document linked to a project.

Create a template

  1. Open Sales, choose Agreements and select Create Template. Choose Start from Scratch or Upload PDF.
  2. Pick its type: Agreement, Change Order, Addendum, Proposal or Other.
  3. Add the fields you need, such as text, Signature, Initials, Date, dropdowns, checkboxes, catalog line items and photos.
  4. To be paid when it’s signed, turn on Payment. For ongoing service, also turn on Recurring payments.

Send a document for signature

  1. Select New Document and choose the type and template.
  2. Add the people involved: you as the sender, your client and any cosigner. Then select Create Document.
  3. Select Send, set how many days it’s Valid until, and send it.
  4. Tick Also text the signing link to send a text as well, if your business texting is set up.

What your customer sees

  1. They open the link and confirm their email on Verify your identity.
  2. They fill in the fields, sign by drawing or typing, and select Finish signing.
  3. If the template collects a payment, they pay straight after signing.

After it’s signed

  1. Use Email All Recipients or Text All Recipients to send everyone the signed copy.
  2. A signed agreement with recurring payments creates a subscription. Find it in Finance, under Subscriptions, to pause, resume or cancel it, or update the payment method.

Good to know

  • You can sign your own part with Fill & Sign, and share the link yourself with Copy Signing Link.
  • Only a draft can be sent. To withdraw a document, use Void.

Still stuck? Let’s work it out.
