Before you start
- Everyone can clock in and request time off.
- Approving time off, editing other people’s hours and approving pay periods are for people with HR or payroll access.
Clock in and out
- Open your profile menu at the top right of the screen and select Clock in.
- If your company has more than one office, choose yours in Select location. Your company may also ask for your location when you clock in.
- While you’re on the clock, switch between Working, Driving and Break.
- Select Clock out when you finish.
If a meal break was taken off your time automatically, Garrison asks you to confirm it: Yes, I took it or No — pay it.
Check your hours
- Open Timesheet to see your Entries.
- When your company asks you to sign off your hours, do it in My Pay.
- Missed a punch? Ask your manager. Only people with HR access can add or change entries.
Request time off
- Select Request time off in your profile menu, or Request Time Off on the Time Off tab in Timesheet.
- Set when your Time off begins and ends. Turn on Specific hours for part of a day, and add a reason if you like.
- Select Submit. While it’s still pending, you can delete the request.
Approve time off
- Open Timesheet, go to Time Off, review the request and select Approve or Deny, with a note if it helps.
- To record time off for someone, select Add Time Off, choose the employee, and file it as approved or pending.
Approved time off stops that person from being assigned to project work, or sent work in Dispatch, during that time.
Approve a pay period
- Open Timesheet and go to Pay Runs.
- Review the period, select Approve period, and confirm with Approve and lock.
- Need to change a locked period you haven’t paid yet? Void it. That discards the approved figures and unlocks the period so you can correct it and approve it again.
- Use Mark paid once you’ve paid the period. After that it can’t be voided; use Amend instead, which keeps the paid run as it is and adds a correction for the difference.
Approving locks the period. There’s no simple undo: void it while it’s unpaid, or amend it once it’s paid.
Good to know
- Your company sets whether your location is recorded when you clock in. Checking your location permission doesn’t start continuous tracking.
